She enjoys saying “No!”
I was with my 18 month old grandchild this week. If you are unfamiliar, this is the stage where they begin to know what they want. I see her mom and dad lovingly correcting with a look of surprise, as if to ask, why?
This little was struggling to open something and when we tried to help her, you guessed it, she said “no”! She enjoys saying, “No!”
She didn’t want to release control, and so she struggled more.
Hmm, is that a common life problem or what? We have something in our hands and we try to figure it all out, while the Holy Spirit is saying, I’m here to help you, just release it into my hands!
What is tight in your grip today? What would it take to relinquish control? Sometimes it is making our mind, mind. We forget our mind is an operating system programmed to do what it’s done before. That’s why Romans 12 is so powerful, “be transformed by the renewing of your minds”
We trick ourselves into believing that controlling “a thing” leads to peace, what if it leads to a tighter grip?
Verse one says “present your bodies as a living sacrifice”, when you present something, what are your hands doing? Is your grip holding tightly or opened widely with palms up?
This morning, as you begin your day, I pray you will take a minute to use your fist as a reminder and release one finger at a time, “God I give this to you, and this and this until your hand is opened. This is a posture God can use to bring peace!!
