Sue Stephens brings decades of compassionate service to her role as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. With a foundation in nursing and a lifelong sense that God had called her to care for others, Sue has a deep desire to support individuals and families throughout Southeastern Coastal North Carolina, including Wilmington, Shallotte, Jacksonville, and Brunswick County.
As the need for accessible, stigma-free mental health care continues to grow across the coastal region, Sue is dedicated to helping clients understand the importance of tending to their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, and strives to demystify mental health treatment providing a safe, encouraging space for healing and personal growth.
With empathy, warmth, and a non-judgmental approach, Sue walks alongside clients as they navigate anxiety, depression, grief, spiritual concerns, life transitions, and challenges with self-care. She is especially passionate about serving women and young adults, offering practical tools, healthy coping strategies, and renewed hope for those feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Sue also has a strong commitment to suicide awareness and prevention, ensuring clients feel seen, supported, and never alone.
Sue integrates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to meet each individual’s needs including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), complemented by existential therapy and the holistic wellness model—a whole-person framework that encourages strengthening the mind, body, and spirit through intentional, healthy practices. Her gentle faith foundation informs her care, offering clients a respectful, hope-focused perspective as they pursue healing.
