Owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” Brene Brown
I integrate clinical psychology with Christian-based spiritual compassion to inform my work. I am qualified by an undergraduate degree in Psychology from James Madison University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University of Maryland. I have been practicing for 17 years. Change is hard. But take heart! Collaborating with a trusted other, versus on your own makes change possible. Let’s explore our goodness of fit and dispel darkness for light.
I counsel individuals (men and women) struggling with stage of life issues adjusting to change, anxiety and depression symptoms, grief, emotion regulation difficulties, and the challenges with maintaining a balance of thinking, feeling and behaving. Couples desiring marriage counseling and premarital counseling are most welcome. My work is characterized by interpersonal relationship techniques, client-centered unconditional positive regard, and narrative therapy elements. I use interventions from IFS (Internal Family Systems), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy), and the Couples Developmental Model (Bader and Pearson) to achieve client goals for change. I am committed to ongoing clinical development, including researched based integrative therapy approaches to improve emotional, spiritual, and psychological wellness.
Personally, you might like to be aware that I was born and raised in Maryland and moved to North Carolina in 2021 along with my husband of 40 years. Two adult daughters call South Carolina home. My call to counseling is a second career after earlier and formative experiences. These included an initial career with IBM as a marketing rep, a devoted season of being a stay-at-home mom, leadership and staff positions in my church including; youth ministry, women’s ministry, along with a variety of missions trips. I enjoy outdoor sports and activities, the beach, and riding my bike. Relationships with friends and family to laugh and share the joys and adventures of life are what bring me deep satisfaction.
