Barb Jacques
MS, LMFT (Shallotte & Telehealth)
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a heart for working with individuals, couples, and families who are facing life transitions, broken relationships, grief, or emotional/behavioral issues, such as anxiety or depression. In today’s world, life is often chaotic and relationships can be challenging. Wrestling with marital stress/separation, career changes, health issues, parenting challenges, and other difficult circumstances can feel like walking alone at night on an unfamiliar path: it’s hard to find your way. As a counselor, I am here to walk beside you, together we can navigate a path forward.
With a background in nursing and ministry, I have seen first-hand how the body, mind, and spirit are intricately entwined and how our relationships with others influence every aspect of our lives. I believe that each person has a unique set of strengths and abilities, as well as the power to achieve their hopes and dreams. Using solution-focused and strength-based approaches, along with Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, and CBT techniques, together, we can fill your “backpack” with skills and strategies to improve communication, heal past hurts, restore wellness, rebuild trust, and enhance your relationships.
Seeking help can be hard, especially when the path forward seems uncertain, rocky, and steep. But Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us that “Two are better than one.” It would be a privilege to walk beside you on this journey.
In addition to my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I am certified as a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator and a Stephen Ministry Leader. In these roles, I have enjoyed the opportunity to do premarital coaching, facilitate support groups, and lead workshops, such as “Love to Last a Lifetime” (a marriage enrichment retreat), “Sabbath Rest and Self-Care,” and “Is it Worth the Wait?” (a sexuality retreat for teens and parents). Please feel free to contact me if you are looking for a speaker for your church group, business, or organization.
