Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and believed. I believe that neither past nor present difficulties diminish your value and hope for healing. I focus on using clinical techniques with Christian-based values to find comfort for the soul and skills to get unstuck and thrive. I often weave in humor to lighten heavy moments as a reminder there is still good alongside the hard. I hope you find my office to be a peaceful place with compassion to process difficult experiences with strengthened faith that God’s desire for you to experience joy in life is still unfolding.

I have 30 years of experience across the fields of foster care, adoption, juvenile justice, residential care, child day treatment, acute psychiatric hospitalization, and outpatient therapy. I have been trained in multiple evidenced based approaches including trauma focused interventions. My experience has equipped me to draw from a variety of clinical resources for each unique client need. I find in-depth clinical assessments help uncover underlying target areas for treatment, especially for those with a history of chronic interventions but poor long-term outcomes. I also emphasize the use of psychoeducation to increase self-awareness of experiences and symptoms and, in turn, helping the client and their support system be more engaged in treatment progress.

My sweet spots are working with children, teens, and families. I love being able to foster new insights and positive change, especially when behavior problems or traumatic events have created disruptions. I also love working with adults who have reached a place in life where they have decided their healing and happiness can be a priority. My practice is open to individual counseling for elementary age through older adults and family counseling including a variety of family relationship dynamics (*excludes court involved child custody resolution).

Primary areas of clinical experience include: anxiety, ADHD, conflict resolution, depression, disruptive defiant behaviors, high safety risk behaviors, emotion regulation, impulse control, intrusive thoughts, mood instability, OCD, life disruptions/transitions, parenting support, psychosis, relationship difficulties, social skills development, suicidal/self harm, stress management, single event and complex trauma processing

My practice also includes:

  • Clinical supervision for Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associates (LCSWA)
  • Supervision of mental health field college student internships
  • Professional clinical case consultation
  • Professional clinical in-service trainings
  • Psychoeducational training for churches, schools, daycares, and child and family organizations.

I was raised in Michigan and have been enjoying the North Carolina sunshine since 2010. My husband and I love watching our two young adult children journey into the next phase of life. I am actively involved in my church as a Bible study leader and high school youth ministry leader.
