I was refreshed this week as I volunteered in an East Tennessee camp kitchen. Don’t get me wrong, it’s exhausting work but, I love being among the college staff and groups that visit.
This particular group had one mission; they were there to serve.
The entire week was dedicated to serving others, they painted fences, helped neighbors, moved lumber, cleaned barns, etc. Their devotions, their discussions were all about serving and the lessons they were learning in doing it.
There was something special about this group, they were not looking for recognition or relief. They had a joyful, confidence about them. They knew what and why of their mission.
In the events leading up to the cross, Jesus is seen washing the feet of the disciples and this reminds me that He, too, was on mission. He served from a place of knowing what was to come, however, His also served from a place of knowing whose He was.
AWARENESS, SECURITY, PLENTY… is it from this posture that we serve?
Awareness that He is with us, always!
Security that we are His completely!
And, plenty… it is through Christ that we have ALL we need!
Oh Jesus, thank you for your example, let us never grow weary of doing good!
John 13:13-15, “You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for I am so. If I then, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do just as I have done to you.”
Verse 17 “…blessed are you if you do them.”
Security, Awareness, Plenty
