I spent some time with the “grands” this weekend . It was a reset for the simple things, and it helped me refocus my lens a bit.
So, we stuck strawberries in homemade whipped cream with Ollie, then licked our fingers! And though she is not yet two, she summed up the experience with the familiar “mmmm!” with each bite, smiling, asking for more.
And we talked about tornadoes with Max and Milo and fashioned one of our own with two water bottles wowing them! It was a reset for the simple!
And I breathed in the smells of the woods, and enjoyed a favorite path to a creek where we let our dogs off leash and they jumped through the forest. How easy!
These simple things are easy reminders of God’s goodness in life, often missed by distractions. Shame on me! When I asked for nudges, He showed me simply, just how close He has been.
So, this morning when I knelt before Him and Winnie snuggled to be close, I realized that God waits for these moments too and He simply loves for us to draw near.
He won’t push his agenda, but He will sit until your heart is ready to see.
Reflecting on the weekend, it wasn’t a surprise when I read my life verse, delighted again by its healing words. So easy, so simple, So like our Father!
Ps 16:11
You will show me the path of life. In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
May we all embrace the simplicity of His pleasures along our paths.
