How do we find rest when it eludes us?
As I walk, I confess that I am feeling empty before the Lord, while in the next moment I begin to rehearse my endless to do list, aware of being amped again. This is not easy for me. I am tenacious and usually function well within it.
But lately, I am fighting this battle of my will. Ironically, I am telling God this as I walk and plan my day.
” Be still,” He says.
Not that again… It’s so basic and too easy, besides I am planning to address that somewhere in my future!
Remembering His Word, I am centered for the moment.
“He makes me lie down by quiet waters. He restores my soul.”
Rehearse! Surrender! Repeat! Oh how I need these surrender moments.
What are yours? Do you find time in fast paced days for sacred spaces?
Over the years we’ve humorously applied the truth from Isaiah 30:15 to my plight.
“This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: “In repentance and REST is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have NONE of it!”
Yikes! Some days, we just need to return to the basics, don’t we?
May you be comforted with rest today!
