From What I can see…

October 15, 2026

Have you ever gotten stuck looking at something and see only your perspective.

I am intrigued when I look at those black-and-white pictures that could be one of two things. They are called ambiguous illusions. Our brain has a choice to see two different figures. It’s awfully hard to unsee the one that our brain focuses on first, isn’t it?

I find this true for difficult situations, as well.  It’s terribly hard to slow down and see another story or picture from another’s perspective.  We often want to react from the perspective we first see.

But, what if that reaction is self serving, “my truth” or self protective?  What if it comes from a place of wanting to control?

What might happen if we take time to see things from a different perspective, relationally with children or spouse, or spiritually, instead of saying -“I gotta get myself out of this”  And, instead say to God, “What can I learn in this?”

Seeing from a different perspective takes time.  It takes effort, but it’s worth it!  It can bring clarity, emotional understanding  even fresh possibilities that would  be missed had you not taken time to consider.

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”   2 Corinthians 4:18.
