Wendy Laursen


Wendy Laursen is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. She has a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Masters in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Her expertise is in addiction and recovery, women’s issues, teen issues, marriage and family, and grief and loss. Her life journey has included becoming a wife, a social worker, a business owner, a mother. Most recently, she has worked with Coastal Horizons Inc, as a group facilitator and individual counselor for people struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Her desire is to help individuals develop healthy coping skills while encouraging them to persevere in their recovery. She also has a passion for working with teens who struggle with low self-esteem, negative body image and depression. While working with teens, she became interested in the effects of social media on teens’ beliefs about themselves and their world as well as how it impacts their family and social relationships. Her desire is to help teens find their own voice and direction in life. This includes helping teens and their families learn to grow together by developing a sense of trust, healthy communication skills and healthy boundary setting. In addition to working with teens and their families, Wendy enjoys working with couples and is a certified facilitator with PREPARE/ENRICH, a program designed to help couples explore and enrich their relationship and marriage. Whether working with an individual, couple or family, Wendy approaches counseling with a holistic view incorporating the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual self into the counseling process
