Tara Belt is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor. Tara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Malone College in Ohio and her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky. Tara’s approach to her work with clients is often seen through the lenses of attachment and cognitive-behavioral theories. As a therapist, Tara has worked with children and families in an intensive in-home setting, and she has counseled university students on a number of presenting issues and diagnoses. Prior to pursuing her graduate work, Tara lived in Ukraine for four years, where she ministered to children in orphanages and to young adults who graduated from the government-run boarding schools. While Tara has a great deal of experience in working with young people, she is eager and open to serve folks of all ages and from all walks of life; particular areas of interest include anxiety and depressive disorders, relationship issues, adoption, life transitions, spirituality, and trauma. Because of her experience as an expatriate, she is uniquely qualified to provide care for missionaries and expats through Telehealth tools. Tara has also received training through the PREPARE/ENRICH program to provide premarital counseling. As a professional counselor, Tara’s mission is to be an instrument of hope, compassion, and truth, coming alongside and partnering with clients as they endeavor toward healing and wholeness.
Tara will be working out of the Wilmington office, offering daytime hours with some evening and Saturday availability as well.
