LMFTA
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my practice. I want to start off by recognizing
that the decision to seek help is not always an easy one, but rest assured you are taking a positive step
towards healing!
I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession, earning my Bachelor of Science in Recreational
Therapy from East Carolina University. My background in Recreational Therapy allows me to integrate
recreation and other activity-based interventions (expressive arts, journaling, games, music, movement,
etc.) into the therapeutic process. I later earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from
Appalachian State University and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (LMFTA).
I have experience working in a variety of mental health settings, helping youth and families navigate
life’s challenges and develop skills focused on emotion regulation, stress management, effective
communication, setting healthy boundaries, managing family conflict, fostering positive peer
relationships, enhancing academic engagement, and risk management.
I believe God created us for connection and therefore I strive to create a safe, empathetic, and supportive
space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. In session, I use a person-centered, strength-based, and collaborative approach to meet you where you are and empower you to discover your inner resilience. In addition, I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches (Family Systems Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment-Based Therapy (ABT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Recreational Therapy, and Christian Counseling) to help you strengthen your relationship with God, yourself, and those around you.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by day-to-day stressors, feeling hopeless during a difficult season,
or feeling like you are just going through the motions in life, I would be honored to walk alongside you
on your healing journey.
