Claire Barco is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate who holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Her experience includes working with adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma such as childhood abuse, neglect, and community or domestic violence. Claire believes that post-traumatic stress symptoms are a normal response to an abnormal event. Her passion is to sit with the hurting and ensure they feel seen, heard, and cared for within the therapeutic relationship as they pursue healing together. Claire also has experience working with marital conflict, family difficulties, issues of self-worth, life transitions, suicidal ideations, managing anger, anxiety, depression, and supporting both families and youth in the foster care system.
Claire is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA). She is in the early stages of training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Claire takes a person-centered, strengths-based approach incorporating techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is intentional about creating a warm and welcoming environment and validating a person’s experience, as she believes all people have an innate need to feel heard. Though operating in life from a Christian worldview, she is equipped to work with clients from various religious backgrounds. Spiritual interventions can be integrated into treatment as desired by the client.
