LCMHC

I am thrilled to have joined this team at Agape Counseling Associates. I earned my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and am currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). I believe it is vitally important to meet patients where they are and provide a safe, non-threatening atmosphere by which they feel encouraged and empowered to make changes necessary to experience healing. It is not easy to ask for or seek help but at times it is absolutely necessary. I seek to come alongside my patients to equip them with the skills necessary to see change and healing. I utilize primarily Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which focuses on psychological flexibility to live more fully in the present moment. This is done by tangible skill-building and mindfulness practices. The aim is not on getting rid of unwanted thoughts and emotions but making sure these are managed so as to not get in the way of living the life you want. I also employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychoanalysis as indicated and if necessary. I have primarily worked with adolescents and children and have been in such settings as psychiatric hospitals, residential or long-term facilities, day treatment, and intensive in-home settings, and providing therapy in community support settings for adult populations with dual diagnoses. I am certified in trauma therapy and treatment and have specialized training in eating disorders, specifically how these relate to childhood and/or ongoing trauma. Through my education and experience, I have also come to learn how integral one’s faith is to their mental health and well-being. If you believe this to be true, I would welcome the opportunity to explore this in the therapeutic setting with you.
